Privacy Policy

2. In short This is a private, non-commercial website. There are no ads, no tracking cookies of my own, no newsletter, no comments and no user accounts for visitors. I only process the data that is technically needed to run the site and to count visits anonymously.

3. Hosting and server logs This website is hosted by Turhost, operated by Çizgi Telekomünikasyon A.Ş., Sanayi Mah. Koza Sok. No: 10 Blok: F6 Çarşı Yapı, 41040 İzmit/Kocaeli, Turkey. Its servers are located in Istanbul, Turkey. When you visit, the server automatically records your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and operating system, and the referring website. This is necessary to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Turkey is outside the EU and has no EU adequacy decision, which means EU data protection law does not automatically recognise its level of protection.

4. Visitor statistics (WP Statistics) I count visits with the WordPress plugin WP Statistics. It runs on this website’s own server, sets no cookies, and sends no data to the plugin’s developer. Your IP address is shortened and combined into a hash that changes daily, so you cannot be recognised across days; only an approximate city-level location is derived. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in knowing how many people read what (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

5. Security and statistics (Wordfence and Jetpack) This website uses the security plugin Wordfence (Defiant Inc., USA). It runs on this website’s own server, records the IP addresses of visitors and login attempts to detect and block attacks, and sets technically necessary cookies for this purpose. The option that shares IP addresses with Wordfence’s cloud network in the USA is switched off. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in a secure website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). You can object to this processing at any time (Art. 21 GDPR). This website also uses Jetpack by Automattic Inc., USA, for login protection and visitor statistics (Jetpack Stats). For login protection, IP addresses of login attempts are processed on Automattic’s servers (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Jetpack Stats runs only if you accept statistics in the cookie banner (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). It then sends your IP address and browser data to Automattic in the USA, which, according to Automattic, keeps the IP address for about 30 days. More information: automattic.com/privacy.

6. Embedded content (YouTube and Mixcloud) The About page contains an embedded YouTube video (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), and the home page contains an embedded Mixcloud player with my own mixes (Mixcloud Ltd, United Kingdom). Both are blocked until you accept them in the cookie banner. Only then does your browser connect to the provider’s servers and send your IP address and browser data. YouTube and Mixcloud may set cookies, and Google may transfer data to the USA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. The banner is provided by CookieYes Limited (United Kingdom). It stores your choice in a cookie on your device and may keep a record of your consent as proof.

7. Fonts This website uses the font Merriweather, which is stored on this website’s own server. No connection to Google Fonts or other font services is made.

8. Contacting me by email If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply. I delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

9. Your rights You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to data portability and to object to processing (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.
